recently at the Finnish U16–U17 National Championships in finland, and representing Alavieskan Viri, Jere Murto clinched his third gold of the weekend by dominating the javelin throw. His winning throw of 75.80 m not only topped the European U18 rankings but also secured second place in the world standings for his age group (700 g)
Notably, it is the longest Finnish throw so far this season with the new javelin model from a 16-year-old, a breakthrough in domestic youth standards, clearly showing that Murto is steadily climbing the international youth ranks and now stands out both nationally and globally.
Having now topped both European and world U18 charts, Murto is one of Finland’s biggest upcoming stars in youth javelin will he break the 80m mark soon?
looking at previous finish javelin throwers, where does Murto stand? well obviously we are currently moving towards a new 700g specification of the javelin, but as it stands with the older models, Murto throws 75.80m with Legendary javelin thrower Tero Pitkamaki Estimated to have throws 73m with the older module 700 spec, Aki Parviainen throwing 74.50 (1990s) and Janne Laspa throwing 77.10m back in 2019.
With the momentum he has behind him who knows, he could be on his way to beat Topias Laine record of 84.69m, lets see what the future holds for Jere Murto.
