BIRMINGHAM – The 2025 UK Athletics Outdoor Championships roared to life at Alexander Stadium this weekend, showcasing the very best of British track and field talent in a crucial selection showdown ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo. With national pride on the line and qualification standards to be achieved, athletes across every discipline—from sprints to throws, leading us onto the first throwing event of the weekend, The Men’s Javelin throw.
Results are in and the new Champion has been crowed! Michael Allison (Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow) with a massive throw of 78.48! on his 4th round throw, followed closely behind by Ben East (Team Kennet Triathlon & AC) with another huge throw and new Personal best of 77.40m and securing the silver medal.
Bronze went to Daniel Bainbridge, (Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers) who threw a new PB of 76.86! On a personal note from myself, Over the last few season, I’ve seen Dan have some ups and downs with competitions, but I do genuinely feel it wont be long before Bainbridge will hit that 80m mark!
4th place went to the Defending champion on the day Joe Dunderdale (City of Sheffield & Dearne AC) with a throw of 69.73m, 5th went to Benjamin Pearson (Birchfield Harriers) 69.40m a good solid throw for his comeback year,
Para World record holder Daniel Pembroke didn’t look to have the best competition, but we have all had one of those competitions, still a huge amount to come from Dan, who knows, a new world record to come?
To End, Today was a huge accomplishment for all athletes, to be on a big stage, battling the best in the UK. Personal best have be shattered, Season best have been set, Good throws, and not so good throws, one thing is for sure, UK Javelin is on the rise!
