Walcott Captures Ninth National Title with Season-Consistent 83.57m Throw

Olympic medallist Keshorn Walcott reaffirmed his dominance in Trinidad and Tobago’s javelin landscape this weekend, clinching his ninth national senior title at the National Senior Championships held at Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Walcott, delivered a powerful performance on day one of the championships, recording a winning throw of 83.57 metres. The mark stands just shy of his season best of 84.65 m, and reflects a consistent competitive rhythm that has characterized his 2025 season so far.

With no other competitors able to breach the 80-metre barrier, Walcott secured the title convincingly, further cementing his status as Trinidad and Tobago’s premier field athlete.

The victory comes at a pivotal time in Walcott’s season, as he prepares for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September. Having already surpassed the World Championships qualifying standard earlier in the year, his performance served as a strong tune-up ahead of international competition.

“I’m pleased with the result today,” Walcott said after the event. “It’s always special to compete at home, and this gives me good momentum heading into Tokyo.”

This national title adds to an impressive 2025 campaign, which includes strong showings at both the Doha and Paris Diamond League meets, where Walcott finished fourth, and a recent second-place finish in London with a throw of 83.60 m.

With Tokyo fast approaching, Walcott appears on track for a potential podium finish on the world stage—his form showing resilience, consistency, and veteran composure.
